Cheryl Bommarito Klein enjoys writing stories and poetry that leave children with a sense of joyful wonder. She is a member of SCBWI, the Pen-Ultimate Critique Group, and serves as the proofreader for KiteTales, the SCBWI blog for the Southern California region.
Her educational background includes a BA in Cultural Anthropology & Archaeology, and a BA in Philosophy from UC Santa Barbara. After graduation she joined Teach For America where she spent two incredible years teaching kindergarten in the urban jungle of Chicago's south side. Upon completing Teach for America she returned to Los Angeles and has spent the last 9 years working as a Waldorf elementary school teacher.
Her inspiration comes from walks in nature and random flights of fancy. Cheryl has several completed manuscripts that are currently seeking representation. Click Picture Books to see a brief description of each title.
Waldorf teacher training introduced her to the art of needle
felting, and she quickly fell in love with the shaping and sculpting of wool. A selection of her needle-felted images can be seen in the Illustration Gallery.
